The Bonnie Badger proudly opened its doors in December 2018 after an extensive renovation and refurbishment undertaken by the Kitchin family.
The village hotel, established in 1836 has always played an important part of the Gullane community. Surrounded by 22 golf courses including the famous Muirfield Golf course, the host of many open Championships the charming village of Gullane has always attracted visitors from far and afield.
The Hotel has undertaken a significant transformation, restoring and displaying many of the building’s original charm and features and proudly expressing a genuine home away from home ethos.
The Bonnie Badger features 13 individually designed en-suite bedrooms located in the main house and over two cottages at the rear of the garden. The individually designed bedrooms feature designer wallpaper by Scottish artist Mairi Helena, alongside carefully selected fabrics and soft furnishings, all reflecting the colour palette of the charming East Lothian landscape.
The hotel also holds The Stables Dining Room featuring a truly impressive ceiling which showcases the original beams of the old horse stable building dating back to the early days of the Inn and the pub which has been beautifully restored. The hotel also presents a stylish garden room and a Private Dining room which can host up to 32 diners in an exclusive setting, adjacent to the back garden.
Using only seasonal, local produce and an impressive display of artisan beers and wine selection, The Bonnie Badger menu offers a modern take on pub classics in line with Chef Tom Kitchin’s 'From Nature to Plate' philosophy which has become synonymous with the group’s other restaurants in Edinburgh. Head Chef Matthew and his team remain true to the values of the 'From Nature to Plate' ethos by championing seasonal produce and working closely with local producers and farmers.
Southside Scran is the new exciting bistro brought to the southside of Edinburgh. Southside Scran showcases stylish décor and an impressive Maestro Rotisserie in the dining room. The ‘From Nature to Plate’ philosophy which is synonymous with Kitchin Group brings seasonal local produce with a bistro twist to the daily changing menu.
The restaurant features warm green tones and colours with brass accents and rustic wooden floors and tiles surrounded by light streaming through the large street windows on Bruntsfield Place during the day. At night time the restaurant is intimate and cosy, displaying bespoke lighting and a roaring fireplace in the bar area.
The beautiful dining room at Southside Scran features an open Maestro Rotisserie grill showcasing local produce and daily specials. The Southside Scran menu is a real tribute to the best of Scotland’s larder displaying a love and passion for French cuisine. The philosophy of the menu is inspired by family dining and is all about sharing sides and salads to accompany the rotisserie and grill dishes.
